Tips about Paris

Comments about the hotel
Noisy and bright room. Did not sleep much. Toilet seat had a stain on it. Was on first floor. Lift did not stop at 1st floor. Was definitely close to Gare du Nord and less expensive than other Paris options. Lots of places to eat right there. Less than desirable individuals hanging around the train station and that area but did not feel unsafe.

Room would benefit from air conditioning but was ok. Has been improved since we last stayed. Location is excellent, just cross the street to Gare du Nord

Comments about the hotel
Great hotel to stay at the night before a trip originating out of Gare du Nord. The hotel is situated literally across the street from the train station, making travel very easy.

Comments about the hotel
Right across from the station & the best price in the area. However, it was 85 degrees & we paid for air conditioning but they sent us next door to a different hotel which had none. When we complained, one of us ended up in a garret room-- definitely not the "deluxe" we booked, but adequate, & we did get the A/C. NOT handicapped accessible-- all floors have at least a few stairs from the tiny elevator. Scary staircases! Very nice & helpful desk staff! Decent breakfast for a good price.
Tips about Paris
Stay on the Ile de la Cite or Ile deSaint Louis if you can. More central access to major sites and the trains get you anywhere quickly. One of the best public transit systems in the world. But beware: most of the stations are also NOT handicapped accessible! even if they have elevators in some places. You will get lots of exercise making your connections, wherever you go. You won't spend much time in your hotel room, so don't sweat the stars.

Comments about the hotel
It has been updated with new floors, interiors and flat screen TVs on the walls and is fabulous value. Comfortable, clean and easy to find. Perfect location for Gare Du Nord. Lots happening near the hotel Very helpful staff. Used the hotel for 10 years and it's one I'd always recommend.
Tips about Paris
See as much as you can, walk as much as you can to take in the city's beauty but the metro is one of the best systems in the world.

Comments about the hotel
Ben at Front Desk was incredibly helpful and friendly, helping me to navigate the Metro system via map. The room was clean, quiet and (best of all) air conditioned! I slept harder than I had during my entire two week trip across Europe! I would DEFINITELY stay again. Value for money in Paris is tremendous.
Tips about Paris
Ben's suggestion to me...buy the Metro tix in packs of ten (you'll save $$$). Make sure to go to top of Arc de Triomphe for best view in Paris (lines at Tour Eiffel are usually VERY long).
