Look at train/ bus schedules before getting there. It was less expensive and handy to take a train/bus.

don't stay longer than you have to, and pay the extra big $$$ for a decent hotel. Standards there are different than in the US

The staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. They will make sure you have everything you need. The rooms are small-ish, but the beds are comfortable and the showers are hot. It's in a really great location, especially if you are doing any further traveling by train from the Gare du Nord station.
