A soldier of the Old Guard of Napoleon I set sail for Louisiana to make his fortune after the defeat at Waterloo. On his return to Paris, fortified by his American success, he decided to open a family hotel: La Louisiane.
During the Roaring Twenties, then after the World War II, the hotel became the meeting place of the world´s most famous jazzmen of the day, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bud Powell, Chet Baker and Archie Shepp, along with artists in love with St-Germain-des-Prés, like Sartre, Juliette Gréco and Hemingway.
